The Producer’s Desk: Producing & Problem Solving on, “The Call.”
Producers Aaron Garfinkel & Dale DeVino reflect on the first & very problematic day of shooting, “The Call.”
Aaron Garfinkel:
It happened at 6:24a.m. I picked up Kutcha, who was playing Agen Gil, on the east side of Manhattan ten minutes before the incident occurred. There was no Cthulu or Cloverfield monster involved although Manhattan was eerily quiet. Kutcha and I crammed his props and costume in the backseat. We were on our way to Jersey. I made a left on 6thAve and got in the middle left lane. The nervousness and excitement hit me; I didn’t want anything to go wrong. I put my left signal on and began to turn toward the Lincoln tunnel. Bam!

Festival Roundup: “The Call” at the HP Lovecraft Film Festival
“The Call,” which was the first short film produced by Killer Goose Films was completed in 2009 and has since been accepted to two film festivals.
The first was the HP Lovecraft Film Festival in Portland, Oregon in October of 2009.
The HP Lovecraft Film Festival was a great experience for all of us at Killer Goose Films. It was the proverbial cherry on top for a years worth of work, frustrations, setbacks and achievements. The experience of having the film screen twice for a packed house of a few hundred on a big screen was something so surreal yet ultimately professionally fulfilling.
Although no video or media can represent the actual experience of being there you can view the opening few minutes of “The Call” premiere at the Hollywood Theatre in Portland below.
